Happy Eve of Fourth!

Stay tuned!
Going on an adventure later today!

In the meantime, so as not to make you feel totally unproductive for checking this blog, here is a summer read suggestion. Okay so it happens to be a teen book. Do you know that I love writing young adult novels? No, I'm not published, and if you ever google my not-so-common name, you won't get me or my books as the first entry. You'll probably get some lawyer in Arizona who shares my name. I don't mind so much, because if some old friends ever search me to see what I'm up to, their response might be, "Wow, a lawyer. She must be so smart." Hah. I wish the lawyer all the success in the world.

My choice for the best "sure-not-to-disappoint" summer read is The Hunger Games by Susan Collins.

Here are the first few pages of the novel if you want to check it out. This is actually my favorite novel I've read this year. The sequel comes out in September, and from all the ARC reviews (advance reader copies), the sequel is JUST as good as the first, which I find hard to believe, not because I don't trust her writing, but because I can't imagine her duplicating such a tightly written masterpiece. Many times throughout this book, I remember thinking, "Dang, I wish I had written this." I could give you a dissertation on Suzanne's character development, plot, dialogue, and pacing, but honestly, I'm not qualified on that, and besides, that's boring. It's the book I want you to enjoy, not my far-from-brilliant analysis of it.

Enjoy your day today. Say hi to a stranger (preferably in a public place). You never know what great story they may have. You could be walking past your next best friend.
Go live!
